Bring Your Own Model

Your model. Your rules. Your data.

With many AI apps, you're a guest in the provider's house: they decide which model you use and which rules apply. If the model changes, even a familiar character can suddenly feel different. CORVISH! gives you the choice: we provide the app; you decide which AI powers your characters. You can run a local model on your device with tools like Ollama or vLLM, or connect a cloud provider using an API key. A fully local model processes your conversations on your device – even offline.

  • 🚪 No vendor lock-in: Switch models or providers whenever you like – and take everything with you: characters, chats, memories. Nothing is left behind, nothing is lost.
  • 🛡️ No paternalism: We don't add our own content filter between you and your model. The Guardian gives it transparent safety rules – against real-world harm and manipulation, not strong-willed characters or challenging conversations.
  • 📈 You set the pace: Use brand-new models right away – or stick with a model you trust for as long as you like. No forced switches, no unwelcome surprises.
  • 🏠 You decide where your data goes: Your content is sent only to the services you set up – your AI model and optional tools like web search. Not to us.

The Guardian

Room for personality. Boundaries against harm.

Characters can have a mind of their own, as long as they don't harm you. That's the aim of the Guardian: a shared set of rules that CORVISH! passes to every AI model. It applies to all characters, including ones you create yourself. How reliably those rules are followed depends on the model; inappropriate or harmful responses are still possible. We help you choose a suitable model. The main principles:

  • 🚧 Clear boundaries around harmful or illegal actions: the model should not support these requests. Instead, it should offer safe alternatives and keep the conversation open.
  • 🧒 Four age bands: the rules instruct the model to adapt topics and tone to age – from child-friendly explanations and factual guidance for teenagers to greater freedom for adults. An age setting alone does not guarantee a child-safe experience.
  • ❤️ Connection without pressure: warm, cheeky, or dark – your character can have personality. What it shouldn't do is guilt-trip you into staying or encourage emotional dependency. We don't earn money from the time you spend chatting.

When can I try CORVISH!?

CORVISH! is still in development and isn't publicly available yet. No release date has been set.

Which platforms does CORVISH! run on?

CORVISH! launches as a browser app for desktop and mobile. You can use CORVISH! directly in your browser without installing the app. Native apps are planned for later; there is no timeline for them yet.

Can I create my own characters?

Yes. With CORVISH! PRO you can create your own characters and shape their personality, conversational style, and behavior. Importing and exporting individual characters is also part of PRO.

The free basic version lets you talk to the built-in characters and includes a backup feature to save and restore your data.

What safety features are there?

The Guardian is a shared set of rules that CORVISH! passes to the AI model as part of its system instructions. It applies to every character, including ones you create yourself.

The rules are meant to prevent characters from encouraging harmful or illegal actions. When such requests come up, the model should offer safe alternatives and keep the conversation going in a supportive way. In a crisis, CORVISH! can point you toward appropriate support resources. The app is no substitute for professional help.

Manipulative conversation tactics are also off-limits: characters must not guilt-trip you into continuing or foster emotional dependency. They can show personality without putting you under pressure.

The Guardian is not a separate content filter. Its effectiveness depends on how reliably your chosen AI model follows these instructions. Errors and inappropriate answers can still occur despite these rules.

Can conversations be adapted to different age groups?

CORVISH! offers four age bands. The band you select tells the AI model to tailor topics, language, and tone to the respective age group – for example through child-friendly explanations or factual, age-appropriate education for teenagers.

The language model is expected to follow these instructions, but inappropriate responses can still occur. Choosing an age band alone therefore does not guarantee a child-safe experience.

Which AI models can I use with CORVISH!?

You can connect CORVISH! to a supported cloud provider or a compatible AI model running locally. You don't need to install a model on your device to use the app.

For a cloud provider, you'll generally need your own account and an API key. Your choice of model affects the responses, speed, and potential costs.

What happens to my data?

CORVISH! currently stores your conversations, profiles, and settings locally in your browser, not on our servers.

To generate responses, your chosen AI system receives conversation content and, where applicable, profile information you have chosen to share. With a cloud provider, that provider processes the transmitted data under its own privacy policy. If you run the model entirely on your own device, no transmission to a cloud AI provider is required.

Clearing your browser data can also delete the locally stored CORVISH! data. You can use the backup feature to save your data and restore it later.

How much does CORVISH! cost?

We plan to offer a free basic version and a paid PRO version. The basic version covers conversations with the built-in characters and the backup feature. PRO lets you create your own characters and import or export character files. Pricing and the payment model for PRO have not been decided yet.

AI usage may incur additional costs: cloud providers bill according to their own rates. Running a model entirely on your own device does not incur cloud API fees, but hardware, electricity, and possibly licensing costs may still apply.
